A woman is found shot to death inside her locked apartment
In the quiet city of Virginia Beach, Virginia, a mystery that has spanned decades began to unfold on the morning of February 26, 1987. Velma Jane Peregory, a 57-year-old white female, was found deceased inside her apartment in the 3500 block of Francis Land Court. The discovery was made at approximately 8:45 a.m., sending a chill through the typically peaceful community. She had been last seen alive just a day prior, on February 25, 1987, near her home in the Rose Hall Apartment complex.
