The evidence at the scene suggested a harrowing final few moments for Edwards.
According to the Jefferson County Deputy Coroner, it appeared that he had been fleeing from his attacker. This theory was supported by the discovery of one of his shoes in a driveway more than a block away from where his body was ultimately found, indicating a desperate attempt to escape his pursuer.
In the years that have followed, the case of Jimmy 'Brandon' Edwards' murder has grown cold. Despite the initial investigation and the clear indications of a violent struggle, no suspects have ever been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with his death. His case remains an unsolved homicide, leaving his family, including his mother, Neysa R. Edwards, his daughter, Kennrdi Madison, and his fiancée, Crystaline Knight, without answers or justice for their loss. His funeral was held on May 16, 2009, at the United Baptist Ministry, with his burial at Zion Memorial Gardens.
