Authorities have released the name of a man found shot to death this morning in north Birmingham.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner identified the victim as Rodney Derwin Matthews, 37, of Birmingham.
A report of shots fired led police to Matthews' body.
Officers received the first call at 5:32 a.m. and arrived in the 1900 block of 31st Avenue North to find a man dead in the driver's seat of a green Honda Civic, said Birmingham police spokesman Sgt. Johnny Williams
