Voshea Cooper, a 30-year-old Black woman from Birmingham, Alabama, was found dead late Saturday morning on October 8, 2011, after police were called to the rear of a home at 204 Tuscaloosa Avenue. Investigators identified her as the victim in what they quickly described as a homicide investigation, launched from the grim discovery behind the house around 11:42 a.m.
