In the days following her son’s death, Kevin’s mother, Jamika Walker, made a heart-wrenching public plea for an end to the violence and for those responsible to come forward. “I want justice,” she said. “If you see this video, whoever you are, can you just turn yourself in so I can sleep at night? I want justice for my son.” In her statement, she also spoke directly to the youth of her community, urging them to find other ways to resolve conflicts. “And I wish y’all children put down the guns and fight. Fight it out like we used to do at a young age. Put the guns down. But I do need justice for my son, Kevin Walker. That’s all I want right now is justice.”
The community prepared to say its final goodbyes to the teenager. Funeral services for Kevin were scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the Fletcher Funeral Home in New Iberia.
