In the doorway of a home, they found 23-year-old Kelsey Alexander Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound.

Kelsey Lamont Alexander Jr., a male resident of New Iberia, was born on August 30, 2002, in Lafayette, Louisiana. He had moved to New Iberia in 2014 and was a father to three young daughters. Those who knew him used affectionate nicknames like 'Pop,' 'LitKel,' and 'BubbaGod.' His life, however, was not without struggles, as he had faced the loss of his grandmother and his mother in 2020. Prior to his death, he had a few encounters with law enforcement, with records showing arrests for various charges, including drug possession and traffic violations.
The investigation into Alexander's death is ongoing, and as of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The New Iberia Police Department has urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in their efforts to bring justice for Kelsey Alexander Jr. and his family. The community was left to mourn the loss of a young man, with friends and family remembering him as a humble and hardworking individual who valued his family above all else.
