On July 25, 2023, Ernest Bernard, a 34-year-old resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident in New Iberia. The shooting occurred at the Comfort Inn, where police responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Bernard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
