On a festive Mardi Gras evening in New Iberia, Louisiana, tragedy struck, cutting short the life of 18-year-old Josef Lewis. The young man, a resident of nearby Scott, was fatally shot on March 4, 2025, in the 200 block of Crofton Street. Residents in the area reported hearing the sound of approximately five gunshots ringing out around 10:00 p.m. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered Lewis had already succumbed to his injuries.
