On the afternoon of April 7, 2026, Michael Garcia, a 41-year-old Marine Corps veteran, was senselessly killed while driving in New Orleans. Garcia was on his way to his girlfriend's house when he was caught in the crossfire of a shootout at the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Desire Street. He was struck in the head by a stray bullet and his vehicle was involved in a subsequent crash.
