In the late hours of a Tuesday night in Washington, D.C., violence punctuated the city air, leaving a young man's life extinguished. On March 24, 2026, at approximately 10:10 p.m., officers from the Fifth District were dispatched to the 2000 block of Benning Road, Northeast, following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as 26-year-old Jamal Blakes.
