Holly Marie Kimball, a 53-year-old woman from Livonia, Michigan, was killed on June 9, 2026, in a mass shooting at a home on Rensellor Street near 7 Mile and Inkster roads. What began as an ordinary evening in a quiet Livonia neighborhood ended with four people dead inside and outside the family home: Holly, Sterling Ray Pierce, Tanner Ray Pierce, and Nevaeh Finch.
Police said officers were dispatched to the residence at about 5:30 to 5:35 p.m. after reports of gunfire.
When they arrived, a man came out of the home with his hands raised and indicated that he had shot members of his family. Officers took him into custody at the scene without further danger to the public. Inside the home, police found Tanner Pierce and his girlfriend, Nevaeh Finch, suffering from gunshot wounds in a bedroom. Outside, on the backyard patio, they found Holly Kimball and Sterling Pierce, also shot. Medics pronounced all four victims dead at the scene.
Investigators identified the suspect as Gage Wade Pierce, Holly and Sterling’s son and Tanner’s brother. Authorities said Holly and Sterling lived at the home with their sons, and Nevaeh was often there with Tanner. Police described the case as a domestic mass shooting and said the preliminary investigation suggested the suspect had a contentious relationship with his parents at times, though investigators had not established a final motive. Police also said they did not believe there had been a similar contentious relationship between the suspect and his brother or Nevaeh.
Authorities said a semi-automatic rifle believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered at the home, along with other weapons. Prosecutors alleged that Gage Wade Pierce fired the rifle multiple times at the victims, fatally wounding each of them. A dog inside the residence was also found with a gunshot wound to its front right leg and was taken to a veterinary emergency facility for treatment.
Before the shooting, police said they had no record of prior calls to the home involving the suspect. Officials also said he had no known criminal history and no documented history of mental health issues known to police. Neighbors and community members described the killings as shocking and devastating, with one neighbor remembering Holly as warm, kind, and friendly. A memorial grew outside the home as relatives, friends, and residents tried to make sense of the sudden loss.
Gage Wade Pierce was charged with four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of felony firearm in connection with the deaths of Holly Kimball, Sterling Pierce, Tanner Pierce, and Nevaeh Finch. He was arraigned in 16th District Court and remanded to jail. A probable cause conference was scheduled for June 25, 2026, and a preliminary examination was scheduled for July 2, 2026.
