Nevaeh May Jaslynn Finch, a 21-year-old woman from Warren, Michigan, was killed on June 9, 2026, in a quadruple homicide inside a Livonia home where she often stayed with her boyfriend, Tanner Ray Pierce. What began as an ordinary evening at a residence in the 19300 block of Rensellor Street turned into a devastating domestic mass shooting that left Nevaeh, Tanner, and Tanner’s parents dead.
Police said Livonia officers were dispatched to the home at about 5:30 to 5:35 p.m.
for a reported shooting. When they arrived, they encountered a man outside the house who allegedly came out with his hands raised and indicated that he had shot family members. Officers took him into custody at the scene without further incident. Inside the home, investigators found Nevaeh and Tanner in a bedroom, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Outside on the backyard patio, officers found Holly Marie Kimball and Sterling Ray Pierce, Tanner’s parents, also suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced all four victims dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the suspect as Gage Wade Pierce of Livonia, Tanner’s brother and the son of Holly Kimball and Sterling Pierce. Investigators said Nevaeh was in a relationship with Tanner and was frequently at the Pierce home. Police described the case as a crime that occurred within the confines of the house, and officials said there was no ongoing threat to the public after Gage was taken into custody.
Investigators recovered a semi-automatic rifle at the scene, which police and prosecutors believe was used in the killings. Other weapons were also reportedly found inside the home and were believed to belong to the father and the suspect. A dog inside the residence was also found with a gunshot wound to its front right leg and was taken to a veterinary emergency hospital for treatment.
Police said they had not previously been called to the home for incidents involving the suspect, and Livonia Police Chief Thomas Goralski said Gage had no known criminal history. Investigators did say they had learned of a contentious relationship between Gage and his parents, but officials had not publicly identified a specific dispute or motive that led to the shooting. Police also said they had no information suggesting conflict between the suspect and Tanner or Nevaeh before the attack.
On June 12, 2026, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced charges against Gage Wade Pierce. He was charged with four counts of First-Degree Murder and four counts of Felony Firearm in the deaths of Nevaeh Finch, Tanner Pierce, Holly Kimball, and Sterling Pierce. Prosecutors alleged that he fired the semi-automatic rifle multiple times at the victims, fatally wounding them.
Gage Pierce was arraigned in 16th District Court before Judge James Jolly and was remanded to jail. His probable cause conference was scheduled for June 25, 2026, and his preliminary examination was scheduled for July 2, 2026. Prosecutors emphasized that the charges are allegations and that he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
In the days after the shooting, those who knew Nevaeh described her as selfless and kind, and a vigil grew outside the Livonia home where the four lives were taken. Her death became part of a broader tragedy that officials characterized as a domestic violence mass homicide, one that wiped out nearly an entire household and left two families grieving the loss of Nevaeh and the Pierce family members killed alongside her.
