On July 18, 2023, at approximately 12:53 a.m., 27-year-old Markayla Sadler of Redford Township, Michigan, was fatally shot outside a party store located at 13820 Merriman Road in Livonia. The incident began with a verbal altercation between Sadler and 24-year-old Detroit resident, Lania Julieah Conn, inside the store. This confrontation escalated into a physical fight in the parking lot, where Conn produced a handgun and shot Sadler in the head, resulting in her immediate death.
