In the late hours of Thursday, April 2, 2026, a verbal dispute in a Hampton, Virginia neighborhood escalated into a fatal act of violence, claiming the life of 25-year-old Naysawn Needam. The Hampton Police Division reported that at approximately 11:46 p.m., they received a call about a shooting in the 200 block of Michigan Drive.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Needam suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. They administered life-saving measures until paramedics from the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue arrived, but Needam was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit have taken over the investigation into the homicide.
According to the preliminary investigation, Needam was involved in a verbal altercation that turned into a physical fight.
