On a cold January evening in Hampton, Virginia, the lives of two brothers were tragically cut short in a case that continues to baffle investigators. Edwin Dennard, a 46-year-old male, and his younger brother, Alfonzie William Dennard, were found deceased in what initially appeared to be a single-vehicle accident on January 21, 2021. The vehicle they were in had crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Settlers Landing Road and Kecoughtan Road and was engulfed in flames.
Upon
extinguishing the fire, first responders made a grim discovery; both Edwin and Alfonzie had sustained gunshot wounds. The investigation quickly shifted from a fatal car crash to a double homicide. Authorities revealed that approximately 30 minutes before the crash was reported, Edwin Dennard had been named as a suspect in a destruction of property incident on Oser Lane in Hampton. He was reportedly driving the same vehicle that was later found crashed and burned.
