William A. Cooper, a 69-year-old resident of Hampton, Virginia, died on June 18, 2011, during a police raid at his home on Clifton Street. The raid was conducted by the Hampton Police Department, who were executing a search warrant looking for evidence that Cooper was selling prescription painkillers from his residence. According to police reports, Cooper fired at the officers first, prompting them to return fire. Cooper was struck multiple times and succumbed to his injuries.
