In the early hours of Sunday, March 15, 2026, a house party on Graystone Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina, turned tragic, ending the life of 18-year-old Harryson Anderson, a Black/African American male. Anderson, a recent high school graduate and a student at Fayetteville Technical Community College, was with friends when an argument broke out at the gathering.
According to his mother, he was attempting to act as a peacemaker and de-escalate the situation when the confrontation turned violent.
As the altercation escalated, Anderson was shot multiple times. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Fayetteville Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the city's 10th homicide of the year. Investigators appealed to the public for any information, including videos from the party, to help piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
Following a wave of tips from the community, police identified a suspect. On Wednesday, March 19, 2026, authorities arrested 17-year-old Justice Miller of Fayetteville and charged him with first-degree murder in connection with Anderson's death. Miller, a student at Grays Creek High School, is being charged as an adult. According to court documents, Miller allegedly struck Anderson with a handgun before shooting him twice.
Justice Miller is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. He made his first court appearance via video, and the judge has ordered that the hearing be kept private due to the suspect being a minor. Anderson's family, including his parents Julian and Nina Anderson, have expressed their profound grief and are calling for justice for their son, who they remember as a courageous and kind-hearted individual.
