Douglas O'Niell Mangum, a 30-year-old Black man from Fayetteville, NC, tragically lost his life on June 26, 2022. He was shot in the upper torso at his residence on Veanna Drive and was later pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The incident occurred in broad daylight, and the police were called to the scene shortly after 12:15 p.m.
Following an investigation, Tirreil Mario Maynor, a 39-year-old Black man from Fayetteville, was arrested and charged with first-degree
murder, felony conspiracy, and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling. Maynor was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service on July 7, 2022, at Pilgrim’s Pride in Sanford, North Carolina, and was taken into custody without bond.
The Fayetteville Police Department's Homicide Unit conducted the investigation, and the case remains ongoing. The community has been urged to come forward with any information that might assist in the investigation.
Douglas Mangum is survived by his children, Taylor-Simone Mangum and Tristan Mangum, as well as his parents, Noah W. Williams, Jr. and Lisa Mangum, and other family members. His funeral services were held on July 10, 2022, at Second Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville.
The case has drawn significant attention, and the Fayetteville Police Department continues to seek justice for Douglas Mangum. The investigation is still active, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the authorities.
