In the early evening of Friday, February 13, 2026, events unfolded in Birmingham, Alabama, that would tragically end the life of 20-year-old Eric Clayton. Around 7:30 p.m., police were called to the 400 block of Lawson Road where they discovered Clayton suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to UAB Hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Eric Clayton succumbed to his injuries the following day.
His death prompted an investigation by the Birmingham Police Department. The case did not remain unsolved for long.
A suspect, identified as 22-year-old Kenyardus McCall, was taken into custody at the police headquarters. Following his arrest, McCall was charged with the murder of Eric Clayton. He is currently being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
