In the early morning hours of Friday, December 3, 2021, the life of 28-year-old Dewayne Lenard Barnes was tragically cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. Just after 3 a.m., authorities responded to a call in the 4100 block of Avenue M in the western part of the city. There, they discovered Barnes lying in the road, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene, but it was too late to save the young man.
