Andrew D. Sanders, a 23-year-old Black man from Birmingham, was killed on April 6, 2008, in the city’s Southtown housing community. In the dark of that early Sunday morning, he was found near the intersection of 24th Street South and 9th Avenue South, lying face down in the 2400 block of 9th Avenue South with a fatal gunshot wound.
