Hardiman said a male was found dead outside an apartment near the intersection of 24th Street South and Ninth Avenue South.
Andrew Sanders, 23, of Birmingham, was shot and killed at about 4:20 a.m., according to the Jefferson County's Coroner's Office.
Hardiman said police do not yet have a suspect.
