Marvin Patrick, a 33-year-old Black man from Birmingham, was killed on November 28, 2016, in a shooting that unfolded in the city’s College Hills neighborhood. Late that Monday morning, police were called to the 700 block of 8th Terrace West, where they found him inside a car, mortally wounded. Investigators said it appeared he had been asleep in the vehicle when someone came up and opened fire, turning what should have been an ordinary moment of rest into a sudden and brutal killing.
