On December 29, 2025, the life of 39-year-old Brian Ramirez-Ortiz was cut short in a residence on South Ninth Street in Reading, Pennsylvania. An autopsy would later confirm that Ramirez-Ortiz died from a single gunshot wound to his head. The initial report of the incident came from Ismael Echevarria-Vazquez, 51, who approached a police officer near City Hall, claiming he had shot an intruder who had broken into his home.
