On the evening of January 7, 2026, the life of 21-year-old Rashon Fields was tragically cut short in Little Rock, Arkansas. Officers from the 12th Street Division were dispatched to the 1300 block of South Woodrow Street around 8:54 p.m. after a ShotSpotter alert indicated gunfire in the area. Upon their arrival, they discovered Fields suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services were promptly on the scene and transported Rashon Fields to a local hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Search Unit were called to the location to begin their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The Pulaski County Coroner's office later transported Fields' body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
In the days that followed, the Little Rock Police Department made an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting. On January 9, 2026, investigators took 19-year-old Keyona Griffin of Little Rock into custody. She has since been charged with capital murder in the death of Rashon Fields.
