In the early morning hours of Saturday, December 6, 2025, a violent incident unfolded on the near east side of Indianapolis, Indiana. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched shortly before 1:00 a.m. to the 3100 block of East 10th Street, near the intersection with North Rural Street, following reports of a shooting.
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders located 52-year-old male Lloyd Rafiel Moncrief suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel transported Moncrief to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The Marion County Coroner’s Office formally identified the victim on the following Monday.
As of the most recent updates, law enforcement officials have not released any descriptions of potential suspects or established a motive for the homicide. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have asked anyone with knowledge of the event to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. Friends and family have scheduled visitation and a celebration of life for mid-January 2026 at the Williams & Bluitt Funeral Home.
