In the summer of 2017, the life of Mark Anthony Bailey Jr., a 33-year-old Black male from Indianapolis, Indiana, was tragically cut short. On the evening of July 23rd, Bailey was walking in an apartment complex at 8700 Rue Riviera in Lawrence when he was fatally shot multiple times. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. At the time, this incident marked the first homicide investigation of the year for the Lawrence Police Department.
