In the early hours of a Thursday morning, the life of a young man was tragically cut short on the northeast side of Indianapolis. Shawn Hicks Jr., a 23-year-old Black male, was shot and killed on July 30, 2020. The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of Brentwood Drive, situated just east of the intersection of East 42nd Street and North Post Road.
When police responded to the report of a person shot, they found Hicks at the scene.
Despite any efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries. The Marion County Coroner's office later identified him as the victim of the fatal shooting. The weapon used in the commission of this crime was a firearm.
In the years that have passed since Shawn Hicks Jr.'s death, the case has remained unresolved. Law enforcement officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing. However, to date, no information has been publicly released regarding any potential suspects or arrests in connection with the homicide.
