On a summer evening in Indianapolis, tragedy struck in the 1200 block of Medford Avenue. On July 11, 2024, 36-year-old Otis Levert Keller, a Black/African American male, was found with a gunshot wound. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a person shot at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the residential neighborhood on the city's west side.
Despite the immediate arrival of law enforcement and medical attention, Keller succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity and ruled his death a homicide. Keller was a father, remembered by loved ones as a great dad, a hard worker, and a loving friend.
As of late 2025, the investigation into the fatal shooting of Otis Levert Keller remains ongoing. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward to assist in their investigation.
