In the early morning hours of Saturday, October 25, 2025, the quiet of a Washington, D.C. neighborhood was broken by violence. Inside an apartment building on the 3200 block of Hiatt Place in Northwest, 27-year-old Jermaine McGee-Holmes, a Black male from Northeast, D.C., was discovered suffering from gunshot wounds. Third District officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 1:56 a.m.
to find him semi-conscious and barely breathing.
Emergency responders from D.C. Fire and EMS arrived swiftly and transported Jermaine to a local hospital. He was admitted with critical injuries and fought for his life for two days. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, his injuries proved too severe. On Monday, October 27, 2025, Jermaine McGee-Holmes succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead. His death occurred during a particularly violent period in the city, with multiple other shooting incidents happening within hours, although authorities have not stated any connection between these events and the shooting of McGee-Holmes.
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the homicide. Detectives are working to piece together the final moments of Jermaine's life to understand the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
