In the late afternoon of May 15, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in the 3900 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast, in Washington, D.C. When the chaos subsided, 28-year-old Lester Howard, a Black male from Southeast, D.C., lay fatally wounded. Responding officers and emergency medical services arrived at the scene around 4:55 pm to find a tragic scene. Howard, along with two women, had all sustained gunshot wounds.
