On a Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C., a burst of violence inside a residence on Congress Street in the Southeast quadrant of the city claimed the life of 18-year-old Lonzo Malcolm. The shooting, which occurred on September 10, 2022, also left another man wounded, though his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident when two men with gunshot wounds arrived at a local hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Lonzo Malcolm succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The surviving victim received treatment for his wounds.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch were called to investigate the shooting, which they determined took place at approximately 2:31 p.m. inside a home in the 1300 block of Congress Street.
