On a tragic Monday morning, October 6, 2025, the life of 26-year-old Masey Watson was cut short in what authorities have described as a domestic-related incident. Watson was on her way to work when she was fatally shot on Salem Road in Rockdale County, Georgia. Her death has been ruled a homicide, and her ex-boyfriend, 24-year-old Kyle Dennis, has been arrested in connection with the crime.
Witnesses reported seeing a car swerve into a ditch. Masey Watson exited the vehicle and attempted to flee when a man wearing a ski mask got out, pushed her to the ground, and shot her twice. Despite being transported to a local hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. The investigation that followed led the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office to identify Kyle Dennis as the suspect. He was subsequently arrested and is facing charges of malice murder and kidnapping.
Friends and family of Masey Watson remember her as a person with a 'big beautiful smile' who was always uplifting and a loving and caring individual. Her sister, Shannon Watson, described her as a hero and protector. It was also revealed that Masey had been in an abusive relationship with Dennis and had recently sought a restraining order against him. Her friend, Jamiria Denson, stated, 'She did everything right. She went to police. Unfortunately things happen and she's gone too soon.'
In the wake of her death, Masey's loved ones held a vigil and a balloon release to honor her memory. Her family is determined that her life will not be just another number and that her memory will be long-lasting.
