Death by Force

Asmarer J. Goodwin, 23, a male and Black/African American, was shot on the night of June 5, 2025, along J. Pledger Lane in Bennettsville, South Carolina, and later died at a hospital in Laurinburg, North Carolina. Deputies with the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office arrived to find Asmarer J. Goodwin unresponsive in the roadway; the Marlboro County Coroner, De’Aron Smith, identified him as the victim.
