In the early morning hours of Sunday, January 24, 2021, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of Ellison Street in Bennettsville, South Carolina, leaving a family and community to grapple with a sudden and tragic loss. It was around 5 a.m. when the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office received a call about a person being shot. As deputies rushed to the scene, another call came in, informing them that the victim was already being taken to a local hospital for medical attention.
Detectives in the vicinity assisted with the transport, but the efforts to save the man's life were in vain. Cedale Raheim Frazier, a 34-year-old male, succumbed to the gunshot wounds he had sustained.
The investigation into Frazier's death began immediately, with law enforcement working to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. Within a couple of days, their efforts led them to a suspect who was not a local resident. Investigators identified Hadji Larae Jordan, a 38-year-old from Raleigh, North Carolina, as the individual responsible for Frazier's death.
On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, just two days after the deadly shooting, Hadji Larae Jordan was taken into custody. He was arrested and transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center. There, he was booked on serious charges in connection with the death of Cedale Frazier. The charges brought against Jordan were one count of murder and one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was scheduled to be arraigned at the Marlboro County Magistrate Court the following day, marking the first step in the legal process to bring justice for Frazier and his loved ones.
