In the summer of 2020, the life of Anthony Antoine Douglas Smith, a 40-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short in Bennettsville, South Carolina. On the evening of July 3rd, deputies from the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to Hill Top Lane after reports of gunfire echoed through the neighborhood. Upon their arrival, they discovered Smith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
