In the Bronx, an argument escalated into a fatal encounter, leaving 18-year-old Estarling Peralta dead from a gunshot wound to the head. The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, shortly before 6 p.m. near the corner of East Gun Hill Road and Putnam Place in the Norwood section of the Bronx.
Reports indicate that a verbal dispute preceded the shooting.
Surveillance footage from the area captured three individuals standing on the corner when one of them brandished a firearm and shot Peralta. Following the gunshot, the shooter and another individual fled the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a total of five people in ski masks at the time of the incident and hearing a single shot.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and transported Peralta to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The New York Police Department identified the victim as a resident of the Concourse Village neighborhood in the Bronx.
An investigation into the homicide led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male. The suspect, whose name has not been released due to his age, has been charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
