On August 2, 2024, at approximately 6:31 p.m., Miguel Cruz, a 47-year-old resident of the Bronx, was fatally shot in the head outside 1600 Sedgwick Avenue in the Morris Heights neighborhood. Responding to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress, police officers arrived to find Cruz critically injured. Emergency Medical Services transported him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
