On the evening of August 2, 2024, Miguel Cruz, a 47-year-old male, was fatally shot in the Bronx. The incident occurred at approximately 6:31 p.m. in front of an apartment building at 1600 Sedgwick Avenue in the Morris Heights section of the borough. Officers from the 46th Precinct responded to a 911 call about an assault in progress and found Cruz with a gunshot wound to his head. Emergency services rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
