On a summer evening in the Bronx, tragedy struck 28-year-old Thomas McCellan. On Saturday, July 13, 2024, at approximately 10:18 p.m., police responded to a 911 call about an assault in progress near 2247 Webster Avenue in the Fordham Heights neighborhood. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a chaotic scene. McCellan had been shot in the torso.
A 26-year-old woman was also found at the scene with a gunshot wound to her hand.
Both McCellan and the woman were rushed by emergency medical services to St. Barnabas Hospital. While the woman was listed in stable condition, McCellan was in critical condition and was pronounced dead a short time later. He was a resident of East 171st Street in the Bronx.
The New York Police Department's 46th Precinct is handling the investigation into the shooting. At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released information about a possible motive or any potential suspects.
