In the evening hours of August 24, 2022, tragedy struck in the Morrisania section of the Bronx. Aris Wimbush, a 38-year-old male, was inside the Morrisania Air Rights NYCHA development at 3073 Park Avenue when the sound of gunshots echoed through the building. Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 9:30 p.m. to find a grim scene.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Wimbush unconscious in a hallway, suffering from a single, fatal gunshot wound to his chest.
Emergency medical services were quickly on the scene and transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, but his injury was too severe. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The New York Police Department's 44th Precinct is handling the ongoing investigation into the shooting death of Aris Wimbush. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder, and the police have not publicly identified any suspects. Authorities continue to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest in the case.
