A verbal dispute on a Bronx street escalated into a fatal shooting, leaving a young man dead. Richard Kelly, a 21-year-old male, was shot and killed on the evening of January 12, 2015. The altercation occurred in the Longwood section of the Bronx, where Kelly had a confrontation with a man who had just left a nearby liquor store. The argument quickly turned violent when the other man pulled out a gun and opened fire.
The shooting took place at approximately 10:15 p.m.
in front of an apartment building located at 835 E. 152nd Street. Kelly was struck by multiple bullets in his back and legs. He was left bleeding on the front stoop of the building as the gunman fled the scene. Emergency services were called, and Kelly was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The New York Police Department immediately began an investigation into the homicide. Their efforts quickly led to a suspect, and on January 13, 2015, the day after the shooting, an arrest was made. The suspect was identified as Osiris Mosley, who was taken into custody and charged with murder in connection with Richard Kelly's death. The case against Mosley proceeded through the legal system, and he was ultimately convicted on the murder charge.
