In the early morning hours of November 5, 2021, the stillness of a Bronx apartment building was shattered by violence. Inside a residential building at 1290 Rodman Place, 39-year-old Almalik Lee, a male resident, was found unconscious and unresponsive in the second-floor hallway. He had sustained gunshot wounds to his torso. Emergency medical services were called to the scene at approximately 1:44 a.m. and transported Lee to St.
Barnabas Hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced deceased.
An investigation into the shooting was launched by the New York Police Department. The investigation led to a suspect who was not a stranger to the victim. Authorities identified 24-year-old Isaiah Vasquez as the alleged perpetrator. In a tragic turn of events, it was discovered that both Lee and Vasquez were neighbors, residing in the same Rodman Place apartment building. Reports indicated that the two men had been seen entering the building together shortly before the fatal shooting occurred.
Following their investigation, the NYPD arrested Isaiah Vasquez. He was subsequently charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with Almalik Lee's death. At the time of Vasquez's arrest, police stated that there were no other known suspects involved in the case. The investigation was reported as ongoing.
