On April 16, 1977, Alexander Esau, aged 20, and his girlfriend Valentina Suriani, aged 18, were tragically shot while sitting in a parked car on Hutchinson River Parkway in the Bronx, New York. The couple was ambushed by David Berkowitz, infamously known as the "Son of Sam." Berkowitz approached the vehicle and fired multiple shots through the driver's side window, instantly killing Suriani and critically wounding Esau.
