On a spring Easter Sunday in the Bronx, tragedy struck when Jermaine Nibbs, a 45-year-old man, was fatally shot. The incident occurred on April 20, 2025, within the grounds of the Mott Haven Houses, a public housing complex. Around 2 p.m., in the vicinity of East 143rd Street and Willis Avenue, gunfire erupted, leaving two men wounded. Nibbs suffered a gunshot wound to his torso.
