On the evening of May 25, 2025, violence erupted in the Lasalle Park neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, claiming the life of a young man. At approximately 7:33 p.m., the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department received reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of Lasalle Park Court, located near St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered an 18-year-old male, Donzell Johnson, suffering from a gunshot wound inside a residence.
Although he was
found indoors, a preliminary investigation by homicide detectives suggested that the shooting had actually taken place outside before the victim retreated into the home. Emergency medical personnel rushed Johnson to a nearby hospital for treatment, but he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Johnson was identified as a resident of Jennings, Missouri.
In the aftermath of the shooting, investigators worked to piece together the events that led to the tragedy. As of the initial reports following the incident, authorities had not identified a suspect or determined a motive for the killing.
