In the early evening of May 14, 2025, 20-year-old Tyler Tunstalle, a male from Halethorpe, Maryland, was fatally wounded in a shooting. The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. in the vicinity of Hollins Ferry Road and Lansdowne Road. Tunstalle was in his car at the time of the shooting. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries five days later, on May 19, 2025.
Tyler was a former scholar-athlete at Baltimore City College High School, where he had achieved
the highest grade point average on his football team. His mother, Tina Tunstalle, described him as a joyful and driven young man with aspirations to travel the world. On the evening of the shooting, he had gone out to get food. Sensing something was wrong when he didn't return as expected, his mother used a phone locator app and discovered he was stopped in the same location. She called him, and he was barely able to speak.
Arriving at the scene, Tina Tunstalle found her son injured. She later expressed frustration with the police investigation into her son's death. As a result, she hired a private detective to independently investigate the shooting. The family has been actively seeking answers and justice for Tyler.
As of late 2025, the investigation into Tyler Tunstalle's death is ongoing. Law enforcement has not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the homicide. Detectives from the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit are handling the case and have urged anyone with information to come forward. A reward of up to $2,000 has been offered for information that leads to an arrest.
