On a somber Wednesday afternoon, September 12, 2018, tragedy compounded upon itself at Mount Zion Cemetery in Lansdowne, Maryland. Maurice Brown Jr., a 32-year-old Black / African American male, was attending the funeral of his 18-year-old brother, Marcus Brown, who himself had been a victim of gun violence just weeks earlier. As mourners gathered to pay their final respects, the solemn occasion was shattered by the sound of gunfire, sending attendees running for cover.
