In the late morning of Sunday, September 25, 2022, the life of 22-year-old Maliq Lamar Hilton, a Black/African American male from Halethorpe, Maryland, was tragically cut short. Baltimore County Police officers from the Wilkens precinct were dispatched to the unit block of Birdsnest Court in Lansdowne shortly before noon following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, they discovered Hilton suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical aid was rendered at the scene by the detectives before Hilton was rushed to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced deceased. Born in Baltimore on February 25, 2000, Hilton's untimely death prompted an outpouring of grief from his community. A celebration of his life was held on October 13, 2022, at the Vaughn Greene Randallstown Chapel, followed by his interment at King Memorial Park.
The Baltimore County Police Department's homicide detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Hilton's death. To date, no suspects have been publicly identified, and a motive for the shooting has not been announced.
