On November 2, 2010, Delfonte Ellis, a 43-year-old resident of Pittsburgh's Hill District, was fatally shot in an incident that took place in the 800 block of Shawnee Street in the Upper Hill District. He was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his head and was pronounced dead shortly after the incident. Ellis had been working as a cleaner at Scaife Hall at the University of Pittsburgh for six years prior to his death. His homicide is one among many unsolved killings in Pittsburgh
