In the early morning hours of July 13, 2025, a house party in the 5400 block of Broadwater Street in Temple Hills, Maryland, took a tragic turn. Darlyn Florian-Granados, an 18-year-old Hispanic male from Alexandria, Virginia, was attending the gathering when he was shot. Prince George's County police officers responded to a report of the shooting at approximately 3:20 a.m. and found Florian-Granados inside the home with a gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Darlyn Florian-Granados succumbed to his injuries two days later, on July 15, 2025. The initial investigation was handled by the Prince George's County Police Department's Gun Crimes Unit, but following Florian-Granados's death, the Homicide Unit took over the case. Tributes poured in for the teenager, who was remembered as a kind and energetic person who was a great dancer and true to himself.
Investigators identified 20-year-old Keyri Escalante of Fort Washington as the suspect in the shooting. She was taken into custody at the scene and initially charged with attempted murder. After Florian-Granados's death, the charges against Escalante were upgraded to first- and second-degree murder. She was being held at the Department of Corrections without bond while the investigation into the circumstances of the shooting continued. Authorities have asked anyone with information about the case to come forward.
