A 56-year-old man named Darrell Mason of Suitland, Maryland, was fatally shot on the evening of March 28, 2025, in a violent encounter that also claimed the life of another man and left a third individual wounded. The incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of Silver Hill Road in Suitland.
Responding to reports of a shooting, Prince George's County police officers discovered 32-year-old Antonio Magruder of District Heights inside a local business, suffering from a gunshot
wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. In a vehicle nearby, officers found Darrell Mason, also with a gunshot wound. Mason was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. A third man was also shot during the incident but his injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
The investigation into the double homicide led authorities to identify 31-year-old Marc Carter of Temple Hills as the suspect. According to the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Carter was an acquaintance of one of the victims. While the motive for the shooting remains under investigation, Carter was apprehended and taken into custody by the Department of Corrections.
Marc Carter has been charged with two counts of both first and second-degree murder, in addition to several other charges related to the shooting. He is currently being held without bond. Authorities have asked that anyone with information regarding the case contact the Homicide Unit detectives or Crime Solvers, where they can remain anonymous.
